Bradley’s matter-of-fact prose make Jesse come to life, as he discovers the structure and focus found in the pool can apply outside it too. This book is a must for fans of Chris Crutcher and Geoff Herbach. For all those boys struggling with big feelings who find sports as a way to make sense of how to move through the world.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the antihero, wants to learn about foster care living, and found family. I don't give out fives lightly, but this is one of the best books I've read this year.

A lively, heartwarming story of a troubled kid trying to find his place in the world, which includes water polo, girls, and a painful past. Though Jesse is adopted, many of his struggles will be familiar to anyone who’s ever been a teen. I highly recommend it.
